This is the second time I’ve hired Eric and his crew and the second time he has really come through. The attention to detail and thoroughness is present from start to finish. He has a professional and friendly crew that are extremely good at what they do. They did several small patches and fixes around the house, lots of interior painting, and they painted a two story wood deck in preparation for listing the house. They worked quickly and the job was very nicely done. A little note about cost: these guys have not been immune to the rising costs of lumber and paint. Be prepared that your project may cost more than you expect because of the current outrageous cost of lumber and paint. That being said, Eric and his crew are well worth it. Last time, I left a review that basically said, “HIRE them.” This time? “HIRE them again.”

The stairs turned out to look great and I was amazed at the roof cover, extending the roof over the top of the landing to protect from the rain. Professional contractor, I hired the Distinguished Designs company after the previous contractor failed to do the job due to the big challenge and risk in the job. I did two interview with Eric "Distinguished Designs company manager" before I decided to give him the job, in the two interviews Eric was listening to all what I explain about the job and he asked very good technical questions and discussed with me the process plan in very professional and respect manner, the job was installing a very fine woodwork in my church, the challenge in the job was the installation of the wood is in 35 feet height with no external structural support, which means that all the wood pieces has to tie with each other in very good way and peering for detailed. Eric was leading his very trained team step by step through the installation process; passing through many challenge and problem solving with very professional and good thinking way. He designed and built two scaffolds in the front and back of the iconstasus each has 33 feet height, 14 feet wide, and 10 feet depth. His team working continually for 9 days to complete the job, the team has variety of experiences where the job was needed. Due to the project difficulty, the project time was extended for three extra days, but Eric does not change the contract price commitment, the church board appreciate the work was done by Eric's company and was willing to partially share with the extra days. I am strongly recommend the company for any challenge and talent job.

Hire these guys. I called Eric out to my house with an idea for a room that was pretty well-formed in my head but I needed someone with the technical skills and know how to execute. Eric and his team could not have been a better fit. They understood exactly what I was going for and had a plan drawn up almost immediately. In a matter of weeks, they transformed an empty space into a room with floor-to-ceiling custom shelves, each with LED lighting, custom cabinets with a countertop, a stone wall and a wall-mounted TV, and a ceiling light fixture, along with custom-made barn doors. It was an intricate job and everything was executed flawlessly. The entire team was meticulous and cares about their work. Every shelf is perfectly level, every piece of wood sanded and painted to absolute perfection. The entire space is completely transformed and I don't think anyone out there could have done it half as good as Eric's team. On top of all of this, the whole team was punctual, clean, and very friendly. They were excellent about communicating timeline and price, and made my whole family feel very comfortable. Thank you Distinguished Designs! The first visit Mr. Fowler arrived on time and asked if he needed to remove his shoes before entering. Unnecessary as the floors were already covered in paper; however, it was appreciated. We walked through the house and discussed the necessary installations and repairs. The initial quote was to install/paint baseboards, remove an outdated florescent fixture in the kitchen and patch the ceiling, patch drywall and install can lighting in several rooms. Throughout the project the crews arrived when expected, made good suggestions, performed respective duties impeccably, and cleaned up before leaving each day. As with most repairs there were unexpected surprises and a bit of scope creep. The unexpected surprises were handled professionally. We discussed the issues before proceeding and the estimates given were very close to actual coast. After I saw the brush-mark free finish on the baseboards I asked for my crown moulding to be painted as well.

Can I give this company an A+? Far and away this was the best experience I've had with a general contractor. Eric is conscientious, follows through, pays attention to detail, and gets the job done. His crews are professional, on time, and work exceptionally hard. The quality of their work is above reproach. We had an extensive trim project after doing concrete floors. This company did all the workworking, and spray painted the trim and kitchen cabinets for a seamless finish. They retextured and repainted some walls as well to make the house look brand new. Eric was extremely thorough in keeping us on time, on track, and in the loop for any problems that came up. They also did some exterior drainage work to prevent standing water next to our house. My biggest beef? I didn't hire them years ago. HIRE them.

We had an issue with the adhesive on the wall panels and although it was acceptable, he decided to redo the panels at no additional cost because he felt they weren't up to his standard. Distinguished Designs is an incredible company! Eric Fowler is one of five (I made that up) honest, knowledgeable, creative, and organized contractors in the country. I don’t believe that you can do better than hiring him and his company! He can take a basic construction or remodeling idea and make it better; he can keep it within budget—but he isn’t free. Don’t expect him or his crews to work for free (you wouldn’t want to either), but you’re going to be very happy to pay for his results. His crews work hard and are honest (your stuff won’t mysteriously disappear while they’re on site). They clean up the worksite every day and try to minimize the effect of their work on your landscaping and your pets. This is my second project working with Eric and DD. Rest assured, if they hadn’t done great work on the first job (which didn’t involve my home), he NEVER would have been asked to rip all of the walls and roof off my house to replace them! Yes, I had to have my entire house re-sided and re-roofed. DD also added a huge carport (with attic) to my garage, remade my back porch, added gutters, and a bunch of new electrical outlets and light fixtures. It was a pretty extensive remodeling effort, and they did a fantastic job! I’m going to see if Eric and DD will remodel my master bath sometime in the next six months. Work was started quickly after our agreement to the cost with care taken to protect carpets, floors, counters, etc. from dust and damage. We wanted to build a custom prayer cabinet in our living room. Not many contractors were ready to take up this project since we have to build it in a specific location and dimentions. He even have to come few times even before I committed to the project which actually made me to use his services. I spent a lot of time talking to a number of different vendors for this. Each found my project intimidating and many either outright said they couldn't do it, or just faded away chickening out of submitting a bid. It wasn't that it was too large, it's that it was too complex for it's small size. I still had a couple of companies engaged in the bidding process when on a whim (based on reviews here) I decided to give Eric a shot. From the word go he was professional, polite, fully engaged, and enthusiastic about the job. I threw him every curve ball I had and he didn't even blink. He agreed that it was an unusual situation (major understatement), but knew how to handle it. I was a bit surprised that he was willing to work on something so small compared to his normal large scale jobs, but it never appeared to cross his mind. All he knew is that I was in need of help and he knew he was someone could help. He was confidant, yet showed no arrogance. He took detailed notes, discussed numerous aspects of the job I never considered, and really worked with me on all of the (knowable) details up front. Before I even got the quote (which was speedy quick in 48hrs), I knew he was going to be the best choice. I was right. As I met each member of his crew, watched how they worked, how Eric interacted with them, etc. I knew this was going to go well. Everyone showed enormous skill in their area of expertise. They were clean, organized, polite, and detail oriented. I think it's important to know as well that Eric personally did a lot of work. He wasn't just a project manager, or hands off owner taking the checks... he was a crucial part of the workforce. Throughout the entire process Eric made sure to keep me up to speed on everything going on and never showed any sort of annoyance at my constant barrage of questions. When issues came up he discussed them with me on my level. No question was too stupid. (I challenged him there, I assure you.) In the end, the result is so much better than we ever imagined it could be. He had vision of the whole project from day one and it's turned out great. Eric is one of "those guys". A man with an amazing skill set without a stench of arrogance about him. A rare combination of honesty, humility, good humor, and a genuine desire (and ability) to put a smile on everyone's face. Trust is what Eric earned from me at the end of the restoration/renovation project. I was devastated as a flood victim of Hurricane Harvey and by a horrible experience with a contractor who had taken me for a ride for more than 9 months. I found Eric and two other contractors from Angie’s List when this contractor continued to miss his project deadlines and delivered the service with poor workmanship. Eric was the first to respond to my request for a quote and gave me a fair price with an estimate to complete the project within two or three months. Being hurt financially and emotionally by my last contractor, I was very careful with my budget and in dealing with contractors. I reviewed every detail of Eric’s estimate and questioned some of his work /recommendations. Eric had a good attitude and told me that he understood where I came from as he had other customers with the same situation. He tried to explain things in ways that I could understand and assured me that he had my back to put me at ease. I was skeptical at first about his assurance. As the project progressed, Eric convinced me bit by bit that he is an experienced, trust-worthy person with compassion and integrity. A lot of work performed by my last contractor had to be redone, including the kitchen cabinets, fireplace, and all the work in the master bathroom (shower, tub, cabinets, tiles, etc.). Eric gave me advice on what should or should not be reworked to maintain my budget. He showed me why demolishing the master shower built by my last contractor was a wise decision – not only because of the poor workmanship that I could see but also because of the structural issues that I couldn’t see. If I had kept the shower, I would have encountered mold and drainage issues very soon. When Eric saw other issues along the way, he always brought them to my attention, provided his recommendations, and let me decide whether or not to proceed. Having seen all the quality issues identified by Eric, I made a decision to expand the project scope to redo all the work completed by my last contractor in the upstairs bathroom and vanity rooms. Eric prides himself on providing quality services and exceeding customers’ expectations. I told him that he just needed to meet mine because I am a person with high expectations and a keen eye for detail. He, however, wanted to exceed my expectations. When his subcontractors caused some issues during the project, Eric took the responsibility wholeheartedly, even though he had to give up some of his family time on Christmas Eve or pay another subcontractor at his own expense to address the issues. When I pointed out some cosmetic issues with the paint job, he did not hesitate to address my concern, no matter how minor the issues were. Eric completed the job (with the expanded scope) in 3 months with great workmanship. I am very pleased with the outcome. Eric is the person who will do what he promises. He has not only exceeded my expectation but also earned my respect and trust.

I feel like this is the cost of doing business and should not have been transferred to me, however, I did pay it as I was so pleased with the work. Eric helped me through many of the enormous amount of decisions. I would recommend Distinguished Designs for a home remodel or construction project of any size. I have already recommended his company to several neighbors and friends. One special note: When we were interviewing builder’s/construction companies, Distinguished Designs was the only one of several that had a good solution for overhauling the look of our 80’s style open staircase into a beautiful new wood design that we had always wanted without breaking our budget. Eric completely updated our fireplace to match the style of the rest of the house. Our ceiling is 25 ft. high and we wanted to extend the fireplace to the ceiling. We knew it would be difficult to do. Being new to the area, we weren?t sure where to turn. A neighbor highly recommended Eric Fowler. He tiled around the gas firebox and used slate for the hearth because it tied in nicely with our floors. Above the firebox, he placed wood flooring on a horizontal pattern (six ft. wide) all the way to the ceiling. Very dramatic and I was very pleased with the cost. It's the first thing company comments on when they enter our living room. 1600.

Repaired large crack in sheetrock in kitchen and living room. Perfectly matched the texture that was original to the house that was built in 1972. Painted the repair so that it is perfect. Had done previous work for us. Power washing exterior of house, barn and drive. Painted exterior of barn and board fence. Built brick mail box and repaired hole in back of house that was masonry. To cap it off he retrieved an earring that had fallen down my bathroom sink. Very pleased with all services and will definitely use again. Other various repairs on the horizon.
